In this course, students become familiar with the field of job analsysis with a specific focus on the Physical Demands Analysis. (PDA). The interaction of the PDA and functional capacity tessting is also covered. Students will comprehensively examine and apply various methods of evaluating the physical demands of the job using a systematic method. Critical evaluation of assessment measurements results as they relate to safety risk factors will also be creatively applied to encourage a comprehensive approach to job analysis.

Learning Outcomes

Training will include hands on instruction on how to use the measurement tools and document clinical observations. Instruction on interpretation and report writing will also be included in this course.

The hands-on section will cover the measurement of the following demands:

  2. Mobility
  3. Agility
  4. Hand Function
  5. Aerobic Demands

The lecture portion of the course will include the following topics:

  1. What is a PDA?
  2. Who can conduct a PDA?
  3. When is a PDA performed?
  4. Where is a PDA performed?
  5. Why is a PDA performed?
  6. Understanding how to break a job into a description, its essential tasks and job demands
  7. How to write a report.
